About

Hit the Ground RunningMy brother and I were the closest friends. We would always come home at midnight, and then after getting ready for bed, I would go to his room to sit and talk. We would talk for hours about everything. When he left on his mission, it was one of the hardest times for me to go through. However… I survived.

When he returned from his mission in Mexico, I remember seeing the light in his eyes. He was just on fire. He was so driven and ambitious. I wanted to be just like him. You could just see that he wasn’t just an average missionary. He was one of the best. And that’s what I wanted.

I asked him, “What does it take to be the best?” He just looked at me and said, “Brady, you’ll do just fine.” I always remembered that time. When I was on my mission in Bolivia, I always wondered why he didn’t tell me more. Why didn’t he tell me how to baptize or how to retain or how to teach. He never mentioned anything about how to be the best finder. I guess he knew that I would figure out what it would take.

With that, I’ve been thinking that it would be nice if I had known more before going on my mission. That would have helped me hit the ground running even faster and harder. So, I thought that I would give a few of the tips and things that I learned on my mission that I wish I had known all along. Let me know your thoughts and if there is anything specific you would like me to talk about. Otherwise, get ready for a mission 101–so you can hit the ground running.
